Give yourself some sourpatch kids if you know the origin of the phrase on the above sword's hilt.
Due to my incredible weakness for period films I was excited to watch the Swedish two part epic “Arn”. The cinematography, production value, and acting are good or even great, but the screenplay is really only fit for children. The dialogue isn’t horrible and I didn’t even mind the wealth of cliches as much as the cumbersome and predictable set-ups, e.g. Scene 24: person coughes for the first time, Scene 25: person on deathbed. Arn goes for action and drama and gets neither. So while I can’t recommend it, for some reason I still enjoyed Arn which more than can be said for the unwatchable “Kingdom of Heaven”, yes I’ve seen the director’s cut too. Maybe my grandchildren will be blessed with a decent crusades flick. If you check out the
trailer you’ll see why more than once I practically yelled out “Kick his ass Arn!”.
