I listened to Animal Collective's last album "Strawberry Jam" four or five times and tried to get/enjoy it but just couldn't. From the first track of MPP I could tell something was different and halfway through "Bluish" I was in love. Not to over pump the accessibility of this album but post my first listen and before I read any reviews I thought the real Animal Collective fans might turn their noses up at this album for being too poppy in its own way. That however is not the case as critics and fans both seem to think it’s super.
In the fine tradition of “Man on Wire” and “WALL-E” this lives up to the hype. I may still not get "Strawberry Jam" but as of Saturday I really enjoy it. My conversion has been so strong I can’t help but think that the waves of MPP will wash over even the most backwoods areas of our country and forever change music in America.
