Paths of Glory 4/5

Like "Downfall", this is another film that never would have made it lower than 200 in my Netflix queue if it hadn't been in IMDB's Top 250. The plot could be considered kind of a downer, but the mastery exuded in every aspect of the movie more than makes up for the grim setting. When it concluded after only 87 minutes I was convinced that Kubrick's filmography was flawless. Then, I remembered "Barry Lyndon". "Paths of Glory" is a perfect example of the lunacy and pressures that come down on decision makers once nations decide to make war.
"Das Boot" is probably my next IMDB target, which probably means my quest to cross off all 250 will probably stall out again. Click here to see where you stand.
