The Bamboos don't get much press so I wasn't aware they had a fresh LP and I figured that Okkervil River's 2008 album couldn't be as good as "The Stage Names" so neither release got the earbud time they deserved. That oversight has been taken care of and now I couldn't push them on you with more zeal.
I think "I Don't Want To Stop" off "Rawville" is their number one cut but the first three tracks of Side Stepper are in hot pursuit.
When "The Stand Ins" came out, lead singer Will Sheff was a guest DJ on NPR's "All Songs Considered"*. I'm still reeling from the interview and the deep deep cuts he supplied, which brought my Okkervil River appreciation level up to that of fanatic.
*Seeing as how I don't drive a Volvo I was at the least leery of getting new music from the same source that one would turn to for grim news on the Iraq war, but I've since decided it's an incredible podcast that is close to being beyond reproach.
